After the Jet Lag: Germany 2019, pt 6

Tuesday, June 18, we took the train from Holzkirchen to Salzburg, Austria.  In the previous post, I shared the first part of our day in the Mirabell Palace garden and crossing the Salzach River.

By the time we reached the Altstadt (old town), we were ready to look for lunch.  We had been craving pizza and found a delightful stone-oven baked pizza place where Anna ordered Pizza Margherita (mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes), and I got Pizza Hawaii (ham and pineapple).  We didn't take any pictures, but trust me, it was PERFECTION.  We had definitely earned that meal.

We browsed through some of the shops in the old town to include a fun toy store (which made us miss Little Sister in the U.S.!).

Legos!

and Playmobil!

So many fun things to look at in the shop windows!

At the old market square, we decided what this hot day needed was some EIS ... and there happened to be a cafe' nearby.  It turns out Cafe Tomaselli is the oldest Italian Eiscafe' in Salzburg:

We enjoyed our water, coffee and ice cream treats on the balcony in the shade...

with a view of Hohensalzburg Fortress.

It was time to walk back towards the train station, buying some souvenirs along the way ... and passing by Mozart's birth house:

At the train station, we got some fresh Broetchen (and I might have gotten a pastry and Anna might have had some Pommes Frites) to take home with us for our supper ... and we were home in our little apartment by 8:30 p.m.  We were a little sun burned, and our feet hurt - but it was another amazing day in Europe!
